What Is Pilates?
Pilates is a mindfully designed, total body workout developed to train and strengthen the entire physique. When practiced with consistency, Pilates improves flexibility, builds strength, and develops control and endurance in the entire body. It puts emphasis on alignment, breathing, developing a strong core, and improving coordination and balance. Pilates is unique in that it is a great workout for all demographics!
How Often Should I Attend Pilates?
Pilates is a total body workout that can be done multiple days in a row and does not require muscle recovery. We recommend at least 2-3 times a week to see optimal results. This will help you develop an understanding of the work and a comfort level with the equipment. Once your mind and body know what to expect, you can push your body more and more to intensify your workouts.
How Do I Schedule A Class/Private?
Reservations are made in advance online through our MindBody Scheduling page. Go to our website, click the “Book a Class” tab and create a username and password. Purchase a package or membership that suits you and schedule a class. We strongly encourage everyone to reserve your class/session online in advance to guarantee your spot.
What If I Am New To Pilates And Don’t Know Where To Begin?
If you are brand new to a Pilates fitness program or haven’t practiced in a while, our Introductory Specials are a great way to get started! Whether you are interested in private training or classes, we want you to ensure that you get a workout that is perfectly tailored for you. For Pilates newbies that are looking to take classes, we do require that you begin with our Pure Reform class to understand the foundation of Pilates before progressing to our cardio classes. If you are still unsure of what classes/sessions are best for you, please don’t hesitate to call the studio! We are more than happy to guide you in the right direction!
What Happens If I Am Late To Class?
If you are 5 minutes late to a sold out class, we will give your spot away to the next person on the waitlist. Often times clients will drop in to see if someone does not show, allowing them the space in that class. If you are running late, call us and let us know and we will NOT give your spot away! If you don’t call, we have to assume you’re a no-show.
How Does The Wait List Work?
Your favorite class is booked? Bummer! BUT, you can join the wait list! If you get added into the class from the wait list, you’ll get an email immediately — you’re IN; it’s official! If you can’t attend, make sure to cancel ASAP! We ‘close’ the wait list 12 hours prior to each class start time so that you don’t get added to class when it’s too late to cancel without penalty.
MOST IMPORTANT WAIT LIST NOTE… Before you use the Wait List, make certain that you ‘OPT IN’ TO RECEIVE OUR EMAILS. Log in to your account and go to MY INFO to confirm that you have Opted In. If you’re not Opted In, you won’t receive email confirmations that you have been added to classes, and you WILL be responsible for a Late Cancels & No Shows.
What Should I Bring To Class?
- Please arrive 10 minutes early to your first class so you can complete a waiver (if you haven’t done so online) and become familiar with our state of the art reformers.
- We recommend wearing fitted workout clothing so instructors can see your form and alignment. Loose clothing can also get caught up in the reformer, as well as dangling jewelry, so we do not recommend wearing any to class.
- You will not be wearing shoes during your workout; instead, we require socks with grip for safety and sanitary reasons. If you do not have socks with grip, we sell them in the studio.
- We do sell bottled water at the studio, so you can either bring your own or purchase water here!
- Towels will be provided.
If I’m Pregnant, Can I Participate In Class?
If you are pregnant, get your doctor’s approval before beginning this or any other exercise program. If your doctor clears you, then you can join us for class in the early stages of your pregnancy. We highly recommend signing up for private sessions with Amy King, as she is a pre-natal specialist who will guide you through your workouts safely as you progress in your pregnancy.
What Is Your Cell Phone Policy?
Cell phones must be silenced during class/sessions. Please be respectful of the other studio members as well as the instructor.
Can I Give My Class To Friends?
Session packs and memberships are non-transferable.
What Is Your Cancellation Policy?
You are required to cancel your class reservation at least 12 hours prior to the start of your class and a private session reservation at least 24 hours in advance. If you cancel within the time guidelines, your class/session will be credited back to you. If you cancel after this time, you will be charged. The cancellation policy is in place because we are a professional studio, and our instructors reserve their time to teach. We understand that unforeseen emergencies come up, however, traffic, work, and being under the weather are cancellations, so please always cancel ahead of time if you foresee that happening.
How Do I Cancel My Classes/Private Sessions?
Please ALWAYS cancel your classes or privates online as soon as you know you cannot attend. Log in to your profile; go to MY INFO > MY SCHEDULE, and then click on the CANCEL button to the right of the class or private in question. With 12+ hours notice for classes, and 24+ hours notice for privates, there will be no credit lost or fee applied.
Can I freeze my membership if I’m going away for a period of time?
Absolutely! Please email: firstname.lastname@example.org with your request to temporarily freeze your membership. Please note that we do require 14 days notice prior to your desired suspension start date. If you are going on vacation, traveling for business or experiencing an injury, freezing your membership is a great option. You will be allowed one membership freeze per calendar year for a maximum of 3 months.
