Welcome back! In our last post, we talked about some of the top ways to make sure you stay on track when reaching for your fitness goals. Writing down your goals will make you more likely to remember them and revisit them. Choosing a manageable goal will help you stay on track and not be discouraged. Breaking down the goal into smaller chunks will keep you feeling motivated, and rewarding your success will encourage you to keep going. Today, we are going to cover a few more ways you can set yourself up to reach your New Year’s fitness resolution.

Ask for Help

It’s hard to hit a goal on your own, and it’s even harder to do when you don’t know how to do something. If you find yourself going the gym and not knowing what to do, book a session with a personal trainer to find out! This can help you prevent injury. On the other hand, if you have chosen Pilates for your new exercise regimen, then we are delighted to have you! Our instructors are extremely knowledgeable when it comes to proper form and technique, and we would be happy to answer your questions. We will check your form during class and ensure that you are doing everything properly!

Make a Schedule

It’s easy to say that you’ll work out three times a week, but what happens when the weekend rolls around and you’ve only been to your Pilates class once this week? Time management is important for anyone with a goal, and fitness is no different. First, think about what time works best for you. Do you prefer to work out in the morning to get your day going, or do you prefer to destress through a workout after the workday? Regardless of your preference, you can find a class to meet your schedule. Choose which ones you will attend ahead of time and commit to them. You’ll be much more likely to go!

Keep Your Exercise Interesting

If you do the same thing every time you go to work out, you will likely get bored pretty quickly. Many people get trapped in a treadmill-and-weight-rack circle, then eventually lose their motivation to go to the gym altogether. Instead of getting bored and giving up, mix things up a little bit! Try going for a run one day and going to a Pilates class the next. Pilates focuses on building strength while lengthening and toning muscles, so you can do a non-impact activity after your muscles need time to repair from the run. Experiment with every fitness class you’ve been wanting to try, whether that’s yoga, rock climbing, Pilates, or whatever else. You might find a new hobby to fall in love with that will keep you feeling in shape!

Re-Evaluate Your Resolutions Often

Checking back in with yourself throughout the year is vital to success. Even more important is to be honest about how you really feel about your goal. While some people may want to run a half marathon after training for a year, they might find that two months into training, they actually hate running. While some things might seem really fun, they may not be a good fit for you in the long run. There is nothing wrong with switching up your goals and picking some new fitness goal to pursue!

Choose the Right Gym: Sculpt + Sweat

Some people find that they cannot stick to their resolutions because they don’t love their gym. While the woman next to you may be a self-starter, perhaps you need some guidance when trying a new fitness pursuit. If this sounds like you, go somewhere they offer classes! Instructors are there to push you and motivate you to keep going, even when you feel like you can’t.
